Canadian immigration program

Visitor Record Extension (In-Canada)

A visitor record extension is filed from within Canada by a visitor who needs to stay longer than their current authorised period. Eligibility turns on maintained status and a genuine temporary purpose under the rules IRCC applies. The requirements below are quoted from the official IRCC source and link back to it.

Eligibility criteria

The requirements below are drawn directly from the governing regulation and IRCC program guidance for Visitor Record Extension (In-Canada). Each is anchored to the verbatim source text, not a paraphrase, so you can read the rule as it is written and follow it to the official page.

You must apply online for your visitor record to extend your stay as a - visitor - worker authorized to work without a work permit or - student authorized to study without a study permit
A visitor record is for people who want to do either of the following: extend their stay in Canada as a visitor, a worker authorized to work without a work permit or a student authorized to study without a study permit
If you want to extend your stay as a visitor or change your status (from international student or worker to visitor, for example), you should apply at least 30 days before your current status expires.
If you want to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor (stay in Canada longer), you need to apply for a visitor record.
If you can’t apply online or use the forms above because of a disability, you can ask for other formats including large print and braille.

The same engine reads your files against these rules

Navisa is an AI file-prep engine for Canadian immigration firms. It reads the documents on a file, cross-checks them, runs the eligibility analysis against retrieved official sources, and flags what an officer would — citations attached. It does not replace the judgment of a licensed immigration professional; a consultant reviews and approves the work.
